On June 5, 2024 from 9:30 AM to noon, C3EN hosted a Community-Based Organization Research Convening on the subject of mental health in partnership with the University of Chicago Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM), the Chicago Consortium for Community Engagement (C3), Northwestern University Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), and the UIC Center for Clinical and Translational Science
Over 95% of the kids that we work with were trafficked at age 13 or younger. Almost 99% of our kids have histories of sexual abuse prior to being trafficked. No child should have to endure the first incident, but absolutely not the subsequent revictimization that occurs.

When I started my career, community-based participatory research was new, and my mentors were concerned that my research approach with community partners would not work. But it did! Together with my community partners, we generated useful research results that influenced programs, policies, and lives.
